Pax produces top of the range portable vaporizers made for the beginner and connoisseur alike. Pax currently has 3 different vaporizers on the market, the Pax (previously known as Pax by Ploom), the Pax 2 and the Pax 3. These vaporizers come equipped with multiple sensors for measuring temperature as well as an accelerometer which detects movement. These are smart, battery powered vaporizers that offer a revolutionary solution to smoking herbs in public. The Pax is able to sense when your lips touch it, this automatically activates the heater which then turns on and starts heating the packed material in the oven. The Pax vaporizers have special insulation that keep the exterior of the Pax vape cool while the the oven is able to heat up the packed loose leaf herbs to temperatures as high as 455 degrees Fahrenheit. Pax labs has incorporated outstanding technology in the design of their portable vapes.
Over 10 years ago Adam Bowen and James Mosees, who were both studying at Stanford for their master's degrees at the time, spent a lot of time outdoors smoking during their breaks between lectures. Bowen was studying mechanical engineering at the time while Mosees was specializing in product design. The discussions at the time were around how smoking had not changed for hundreds of years besides being available in a more convenient package. They realized that at this point, so much in life had been upgraded through technology, while smoking remained the same primitive habit. They decided that there was a lack of innovation in this huge industry which had a large market for product but no change in the form of the products. There were many smokers, but people still smoked the basic cigarette or pipe. They decided that a change was needed and established a company in 2007, which they named Ploom.
Ploom was started with only a few employees and big dreams. They spent three years learning about vaping techniques, the tobacco industry and consumer electronics. They also had to raise seed capital and present business plans for the venture. At the end of this period, they launched their first ever product. The original product was an electronic cigarette that required the user to insert pods filled with tobacco which where then smoked through the device. This was way before the e-cigarette became fashionable and the device did not make much inroads in to the tobacco user market. They then decided to look at a different angle. They set out to design a device which could be used for loose-leaf vaporization. The vaporizer would need to be able to be set for different temperatures in order to heat up the dried material. This could then be used for smoking a variety of products including cannabis. Due to cannabis still being illegal in many places, Pax does not advertise this fact, but just as tobacco can be vaped as a loose leaf product, so can cannabis in it's different plant material blends and concentrations. At this point in time, the market was already starting to fill up with loose leaf vaporizers. Pax saw a gap in the market for smaller, hand held devices as opposed to the tabletop devices on the market which were not designed for public use or for mobility. The two founders wanted to create a product that could be used discretely and regularly without the obviousness of the large devices that were visible to everyone when used.
In 2012, Pax by Ploom was released as the first version of the vaporizer designed by Monsees and Bowen for discreet personal use. The vaporizer came with a 10 year warranty and was not without issues. There were problems with the device breaking easily and becoming clogged. They made sure that they noted every consumer complaint received and designed and released an updated version, the Pax 2, a few years later. By 2015, Ploom had been renamed as Pax, issuing in the Pax era for the company and establishing a brand which would become better and better known in the industry. The Pax 2 was an even smaller device with one extra heat setting, bringing the choice of temperatures to four. The second device also offered a much longer battery life as well as a bigger oven. The added features did come with an increased price tag as well, but this did not seem to hamper the Pax brand at all. In fact, their market just continued to expand. They are estimated to be one of the top brands in vaporizers in America and are known as a quality brand. While they may be fairly expensive, they are designed to last and also carry a standard ten year warranty from Pax. The Pax is designed to be easy to use, with the loading and cleaning processes being fairly simple, which sells many users on the product. The Pax 2 is never powered off, but goes in to a sleep mode when it is not in use. When you are ready to use the device, you simply click a button situated on the mouth piece which wakes the device up. Moving the device thereafter activates the oven so that the materials packed inside heat up and are able to be vaped easily. The device is also able to sense when you put it down. This enables the machine to switch the oven off, allowing it to cool and also save the product that is packed inside the device. This also results in less battery power being used. The machine is taken one step further, it can even sense how big of a draw you take. The bigger the draw, the more the device heats up as the incoming air would cool the oven to a degree. It knows when your lips are on the mouthpiece and is able to adjust to your vaping style. Every 30 seconds, the temperature of the oven is monitored. This ensures that the heat is consistent at all times. There is a stainless steel air path built in to the Pax vaporizer. This is for the air to flow through before it reaches your mouth and gets inhaled in to your lungs so that it can cool sufficiently to prevent the vapor being excessively hot when inhaled. You can check the battery life of the Pax by shaking the device three times. The main idea behind the design of the Pax is to have a portable product which is available for use whenever you need it. Pax is designed for easy travel and discreet vaporization anywhere.
The Pax 2 is designed to create great vapor quality. It is intuitive and is able to sense your mouth on the mouthpiece as well as the depth of your inhalations, allowing it to compensate and keep an even heat on the product you are vaping. It is designed to be durable and efficient and is covered by a ten year warranty. The Pax 2 can easily be carried in a handbag or pocket so that you have your vape on hand whenever you feel like vaping. There is a large chamber to pack in your loose leaf and a long battery life. The Pax 2 was created with the end user in mind, with technology which helps you not only control and maintain the heat for the specific flavor and effect you are after but also stops burning when the device is put down, saving you product, which also saves you money. The Pax 2 is small and discreet. At less than 4 inches, the oven is still large enough to hold a third of a gram at a time. This means that you can use the vaporizer for a number of sessions as this amount of product should give you at least 15 to 20 decent draws of product. You can carry the Pax 2 in your pocket or in a handbag without it being too heavy or overly noticeable. The Pax 2 is not very heavy and produces a dense, flavorful vapor which is cooled enough to allow you to inhale without worrying about burns. You can preset the temperature to four different controlled heats depending on the product you are smoking and the flavors or effects you are wanting to obtain from vaping.
The Pax 2 heats up quickly and you can then control how you vape as the Pax 2 senses your lips on the mouthpiece, the strength of inhales, as well as when you put the vaporizer down. The oven is situated as far from the mouthpiece as is possible working with the overall size of the device. This vapor is well cooled, allowing for smooth draws and no harsh, burnt flavors. The interface is easy to use and great for beginners and habitual vape users alike. There are minimal button clicks and simple instructions for use. The Pax symbol on the front has four LED lights which light up for battery level, temperature and to indicate if the device is in standby mode, heating up or is ready to use. Just shake the device to see how much battery power you have left or to exit the temperature setting mode.
The Pax 2 allows you to be more efficient in your use of product, as it does not keep burning after it has be put down. This also saves you battery power. The accelerometer and lip sensing tech helps the device control temperature and over heat when vaping and controlling according to the set temperature and your strength of inhales. After the device has not moved for three minutes, it will go in to standby mode, with the temperature dropping off and product being saved. When you pick the device up again and touch your lips to it, the temperature will heat back up to the temperature you had set on the selector.
There is no time limit to your vaping session as the device will activate when in use and go in to standby when you are not actively using it. The Pax 2 takes about 3 hours to fully charge and will last for around 90 minutes of use. This can allow you to conservatively use the device for up to 3 days before needing to recharge if you do not have very long vaping sessions. The Pax 2 features a stainless steel oven and the vapor tube is also made from stainless steel, while the mouthpiece is high quality silicone. The Pax 2 is made from medical grade materials and meets all safety standards. The heating element used in the Pax 2 is a non-ceramic tuned, thin film heater which is bonded to the outside of the vapor path and the oven. How you pack the oven also determines your draw resistance. You can use long, strong pulls or smaller draws, depending on your preference. The Pax 2 does not have glass or moving parts which can easily be broken and the anodized aluminum shell on the outside makes the Pax 2 ultra-durable and long wearing. The Pax 2 also features a fun, hidden feature. There are a few different features which are assigned randomly so that each Pax 2 has a bit of personality. Roll the Pax 2 horizontally three times. After 3 rotations, the mode will change. The Pax 2 is also easy to clean. Use the Isopropyl alcohol and pipe cleaners to clean the device to keep it clean and hygienic. The Pax 2 is a small, streamlined device which can be used to create vapor from dried herb products of your choice. Vaporizing dried herbs is much healthier than smoking the products and you can set temperatures to release specific compounds in the herbs to attain a specific effect.
The Pax 2 was already leaps and bounds ahead of competitors and was fast becoming the most sought after vaporizer on the market. The people at Pax labs decided to up the ante and bring out the Pax 3. The Pax 3 incorporated concentrate support, haptic feedback, an improved heating element and the ability to connect to your Pax via Bluetooth from an app on your smartphone. The Pax 3 can be purchased as a basic device or with a complete kit packed full of accessories. The Pax 3 is not a standard vape pen which is specifically designed to allow for vaping of concentrates as well as the usual loose leaf products. The Pax 3 kit includes a special concentrate insert. This allows you to increase the temperature so that you can enjoy extracts while you are out and about. This will also allow for vaping of CBD products for health and wellness.
Other accessories include a dock, charging cable as well as two different mouth pieces. The one mouthpiece is raised, while the other is flat. Another useful accessory is the half pack oven lid. This little device allows you to make a tight packed bowl requiring more draw strength without having to pack the entire oven area fully. The kit includes a few extra screens in case you lose one. Another beneficial feature is the multi-tool which is conveniently on a key-chain which allows you to turn and stir your herbs. The kit also includes a carrying case in a funky tweed material. That is a lot of extra benefits, which makes it worthwhile to purchase the full kit along with the Pax 3. The Pax 3 heats up a lot faster than the Pax 2, which was already impressively fast. You can reach optimal heating temperatures, right up to the third setting in less than 30 seconds from cold. This does depend on the battery being at a reasonable charge though. Once it has warmed up to the set temperature, it only takes five seconds to reach perfect temperature between inhaling. This means it is great for extended vaping sessions as well as for a short pick me up use at any point. This is around half of the time you had to wait with the Pax 2. That means the Pax 3 is super quick and perfect for people who enjoy long, extended vaping sessions. Perfect for socializing with friends or for medical cannabis use especially for those using medical cannabis for chronic pain treatment. The Pax 3 is super-efficient and also allows you to inhale the vaped materials better due to the quick heating, with less product being lost in to the air. The Pax 3 looks great with a matte finish as opposed to the brush finish of the Pax 2. The Pax 3 won't show the minor damage from every day wear and tear easily, so it will look great for longer. It will still show dents if it is dropped or damaged to more than a minor degree. The Pax 3 vibrates when you start it up, so you immediately know it is turned on. It will also vibrate again when the vape has reached the point for optimal use, so you know straight away when it's good to go. You also don't have to worry about looking at the device to see the lights as you can feel when it is ready. The major upgrade to the Pax device is the wireless Bluetooth integration with an app you can load on your smartphone. This allows you to control your device, change temperature settings to suit you perfectly for your specific use as well as allowing for some of the special modes to be automatically activated. You can also allow the firmware to be updated regularly so you can take advantage of all the games and modes supplied with the Pax 3.
The Pax 3 allows you to vape tightly packed herbs in a full bowl or a half packed oven using the oven lid by using the special multi-tool to tamp the oven contents down until it is nice and firmly packed. The Pax 3 works best with finely ground herbs though as the heat can then be distributed evenly and you are able to use all of the product. If you grind the herbs down to a fine powder, you can get a lot of product in but it can be extracted easier via the vape. When you use the Pax 3, you can vary the amount of vapor you inhale by varying your draw strength. A hard pull on the device will produce a fine vapor only. The best way to use the Pax 3 to get a reasonable amount of vapor is to pull gently in small puffs, similar to smoking a cigar. Smaller, short drags will produce stronger amounts of vapor and allow for better product inhalation. You do not need to stir the product in the oven during use even though there may be very small amounts that do not heat up that are directly on the oven door. If you do pack a very tight bowl, you might need to tap the contents out and reinsert them the other way around if the material you are using to vape is fairly sticky. The Pax 3 addition that allows you to use concentrates is great for those using oils such as CBD or cannabis full spectrum oils to vape. Do not overfill the concentrate insert though. Keep the concentrate levels lower than the air intake holes for optimum use. If you overfill the insert it will take a lot longer to heat up and you can also spill some of the concentrate in to the oven. Lower levels of concentrate make for a much better vaping experience and less product wastage. When using the concentrate insert, if you keep the pulls soft and draw at a medium pace you will get the best effects. You do not want to draw hard enough to suck up the concentrate out of the insert instead of vapor. You do not have to use all the concentrate in one session and do not have to empty the concentrate out of the insert if you plan to vape the rest later. When you put your device down, the oven will cool and so will the concentrate, reducing loss of product in between uses. The device is then ready to pick up and use again when you next want to vape. This works especially well for those using concentrates for chronic pain control as you don't still have to worry about preparation before use, you can just pick up the device and take a hit of vapor as you need it. Pax 3 is the best option for people who want to use concentrate and may also use loose leaf products. The Pax 2 is best suited for loose leaf vaporizing only.
The Pax vaporizers are perfect for people who are looking for a discreet, portable option to vape loose leaf or concentrates. Pax vaporizers offer optimum heating for the best flavors as well as allowing the compounds to be released in the vapors depending on the heat setting. There is a chart available that explains the best heat settings depending on the product, flavor and effects required. The Pax does however require a 3 hour recharge, so you might want to ensure that you charge it overnight to have it available for a few days, depending on your usage. Pax vapes look classy, can be carried around discretely and can be used in a less obvious way than bongs and other table top vape devices.
Some suggestions include working on the coarseness of your herb if you are not getting the results you are looking for. A finer grind will provide more vapor that coarser materials, especially if the herbs are not completely dry. The more moist and sticky the herbs are, the less vapor you are likely to get from them. You can grind your herbs, then spread them out and let them dry further for a few days. You can then pack them or grind them even smaller. Herb that is crushed down to a dust like product makes for the best vaping material, other than prepared concentrates. Another issue that you can look at is how tight your product is packed. You can leave the leaf fairly loose in the bowl or you can use the finely ground powdered herb and pack it down. This will allow you to pack more product in, while producing a better vapor. If you opt for the Pax 3 and want to vape concentrates, there are many already available on the market. Many concentrates include flavors as well as health benefits, while others are purely for recreational use. Some of the loose leaf herbs may also include flavors and other dried plant extracts to give a different experience to using the dried herbal product alone. Many people are now vaping cannabis concentrates to treat a variety of physical and mental health issues as vaping allows for quick absorption of the products in to the bloodstream for use by the endocannabinoid system in the body. If you are looking for premium CBD products, choose a reliable supplier who should also be able to advise you on the optimum temperature settings for releasing the cannabinoids and terpenes in the chosen concentrate. Choose your preferred products, choose your Pax and enjoy your vaping experience.
